 Dipan & Pachan
First purva-karmas are Dipan and Pachan, means use of carminative and digestive herbs It is basically meant for ‘Niramikaran’ ( removal of Ama ). Unless and until Ama is removed from the associated dosha, chances of good recovery from the disease are very less. This is an unique approach for the treatment in Ayurveda. So for Dipan and Pachan specific diet and medicines are prescribed for certain period.
Snehan means oil therapy. The use of oily substances for the treatment is known as Snehan. Plant or animal fats are used for this purpose. It can be external as well as internal.

Shirodhara
Shirodhara means to pour liquid / herbal oil, on the head and forehead. This is very popular treatment now in days in Europe and American continents. It is useful in Dandruff, Burning in head, Insomnia, Hair problems, Headache, Fever. Also it is used for mental relaxation, Stress, Sleeplessness, Tension, Anger, Anxiety, Hypertension etc.

Shiropichu

 Svedana
 
A therapy by which a person is made to sweat is svedan. Sveda (sweat) is considered a waste product of the body. Snehan (oil therapy) should be followed by Svedan. Svedan is the best treatment for reducing vata and kapha. Herbal medicines may be added further to loosen the toxins from the individual.
Svedan liquefies the aggravated doshas and increases their movement into the koshtha (trunk, gastro-intestinal tract) from the shakhas (extremities). After three to seven days of snehan and svedan, the doshas become well "ripened." Then the aggravated doshas can be eliminated by Panchkarma (operative procedures) viz., vaman etc.

Nadi sveda
Nadi means tube. Medicated steam is passed through a tube (plastic, rubber, wooden or metal) over the painful part of the body is called Nadi svedan. Herbs like Arka, Karanja, Neem, Nirgundi are commonly used to produce medicated steam.

Bashpa sveda
Bashpa means steam, Svedan with steam is called Bashpa sveda. Generally this is used for complete body svedan.

Patra Pind Svedan
Valuka Svedan
Different kind of Pind svedan are kind of bag / cloth ball filled with different herbs, grains and materials. Useful for local muscular, nerves problems and in painful conditions.
